AL BASHA MEDITERRANEAN GRILL(AND HOOKAH LOUNGE…Shhhhhh)!

Greetings Fellow Hookah Whisperers!

Today, I have a real treat of a review for you. Just south of 116th Street and Allisonville Road in Fishers Indiana, back behind a auto service center and another strip mall, lies a tiny diamond in the rough. Al Basha is the name of this establishment.

To call it a Hookah lounge would be a tremendous understatement. The owner, Mario, also has a Mediterranean Grill and a grocery all conveniently in the same building. The Hookah lounge sits totally enclosed in an area that doesn’t allow the smoke to interfere with people who are dining in the grill.

They also have a full selection of Hookahs and Shisha, a broad selection of shisha I might add. As I was leaving I bought a 250g of Al Fakher Grape with mint because I couldn’t resist the display area!

I had a bowl of Al Fakher Lemon with Mint and it was served in an Egyptian rotator hookah. The flavor was strong and what I expected and the hookah smoked cool the entire sitting. I didn’t sample the food, but had the option to do so in the Hookah area. You just can’t smoke in the restaurant area. What I can tell you, is that the restaurant had a steady flow of customers for the hour I was there. Even the market was busy.

My total bill for a diet Pepsi and a hookah for an hour came to $12.95. This seemed like an exceptional deal to me! And Mario and his staff couldn’t have been nicer.

If you are in the Indianapolis area definitely go check out Al Basha, at 11321 Village Square in Fishers Indiana. Absolutely great!

Please add as many as you can so we can have a good directory of the good, the bad and the ugly!

I will try to visit and review as many as I can. I have two reviews already up and am adding a third on Monday. So list away.

SAHARA HOOKAH LOUNGE-ALIVE AND VERY WELL IN TINLEY PARK!

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

I had a business trip to Chicago this week and was randomly looking for a Hookah Lounge in which to grab a bite and a smoke. I was way out in Tinley Park and was told by a nice young lady in Steinmart about the Sahara Hookah Lounge in Tinley.

It is located roughly at the corner of 159th and 80th ave. in Tinley Park, but you have to look closely to find it as it sits back in a small strip mall.

It was about 11 am and I was pleasantly surprised to find I was the first customer of the day. I ordered a hookah with Citrus Mint Starbuzz shisha from the largest selection of shisha I have ever seen at a hookah lounge, and the owner, Mohamed, brought it out for me. It was a rotator, which I found to be unstable in the past. This one was exceptional quality and didn’t wobble at all. Also, he puts the hoses in the freezer, so your first smoke from your hookah is unbelievable! It is so cool and refreshing and this coolness lasts for about fifteen minutes.

I also ordered an iced tea, which Mo brewed especially for me from a his stash of black teas. This was an incredible compliment to the shisha and to me as well. Thanks, Mo, for the great service!

Overall, this is a great place to grab a smoke with friends. If you are looking for a club type, techno dance atmosphere to pretend you are hip, don’t bother. If you are a true hookah lover, this is the place for you. So, if you are in the Chicagoland area, I highly recommend it.

Until next time, remember; Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!

HOOKAH WEST LAFAYETTE-PURDUE UNIVERSITY HOOKAH LOUNGE

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

Last week I had the privilege of once again, being in West Lafayette on business, so I decided to give the hookah lounge “Hookah” a try. I went with four friends on a Friday night at around 8:30pm.

It could have been that the Boilermakers were playing that night in the sweet sixteen, and the lounge has two big TV’s going, but it was absolutely packed! We had a hard time getting a table. Usually hookah lounges start picking up after 10pm. But this one was packed and stayed that way until we left around 10:30.

Here’s the good news; the service and the food were excellent! The waitresses were well trained on the menu and the hookah part of the job. They were a pleasure to work with! The owner also strolled around and spoke with the guests which made you feel very welcome, indeed. My friends ordered some hummus and pita chips, a quesadilla, and some other hummus like thing that sounds like “Bababooey”. (Howard Stern would be proud.) My friends said the food was spectacular!

Now, the bad news; The hookah smoke was very warm. The draw was warm, the vase was warm, and the smoke was marginal. I asked for some ice which helped a little, but overall, for what you are paying, the smoking experience was pretty average. They did practice exemplary heat management though, and kept the coals burning well and replaced them frequently.

Having said that, this is the more expensive hookah lounge in West Lafayette, these are college students for the most part, and the place was packed! So, who am I to say that they are doing anything wrong. If you are in West Lafayette, definitely give this place a try.

Overall, we had a great time. The social aspect of smoking hookah is definitely alive in this lounge, and that is the whole point!

THE EGYPTIAN HOOKAH LOUNGE-WEST LAFAYETTE INDIANA-PURDUE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

Last week I had the great opportunity to be in West Lafayette Indiana on the campus of Purdue University. While there, I had a wonderful lunch at the Egyptian Hookah Lounge and a great smoke as well. A quick thank you to Purdue students, Tabby, Jonathan, Sarah, and Matt for letting me get a shot of them enjoying the Egyptian for lunch.

The place has about the charm you would expect from a College town hookah lounge…not too fancy, but yet exotic enough to draw you in. The cheeseburger and fries I had were incredible, and huge. I ended up taking more than half of it in a box and having it for dinner.

The tobaccos they serve are a variety and they of course have Starbuzz. I had a mix of Starbuzz Orange and Mojito. It was a great smoke! The hookahs they use are pretty good quality. The look is almost too antique-ish to believe that they are actually old, but they are beautiful, and smoke very well.

Apparently they have quite a lineup for the evenings at the Egyptian as well. They have an open mic night I know, and I was told they have a DJ most other nights, so it seems like a great social gathering place.

So, to sum up; The price for a mixed bowl of Starbuzz shisha, a double cheeseburger and fries, and a large iced tea(for some great green tea Click Here!) came to around $21 with tip. I don’t think that is too bad.

So, the next time you are in Lafayette, stop in and have a smoke at the Egyptian. It really is a great atmosphere and value. I recommend it highly.
