Once again, I am in pursuit of finding a shisha comparable to Al Fakher Grape w/Mint. I could smoke this day in day out for the rest of my life and never tire of it. I can’t say that about any other shisha. Tangiers cool strawberry and Social Smoke Absolute Zero are close, but they just don’t have the power over me that Al Fakher does.

This weekend, I went out to my local smoke shop and bought some Fantasia. I bought some mint, watermelon, white grape and the other grape one with the clever name…which I can’t remember. Now, the watermelon and mint combo is nice, but no matter how I mix the others, nothing comes close to the Al Fakher. Be it Starbuzz, Fumari, Social Smoke, I just can’t find the equal. Am I doomed to this fate! Does anyone have a favorite that they are so passionate about that they would share with the world? Do a video and I’ll post it here and we will share it with the world. Unless of course it is in limited supply, then just email me and we’ll share it…screw everybody else.

Although it is early summer, in Indiana today, it is in the 60′s. A perfect day for a smooth fruity smoke. I can find nothing more refreshing than Social Smoke Razzberry. Take a look.

If you follow my blog at all, you know that today’s flavor is one of my all time favorites. Over the years, I think I have tried eight or nine different Double Apples. Of these, I think I probably liked 99% of them. I just really like this flavor. Social Smoke’s Double Apple takes an interesting twist on the classic. Watch the video and let me know what you think.

Today I want to talk about mid-range shisha. Not the cheapest of the cheap and not the best of the best. Kind of the “Journeyman” of shisha if you get my meaning. Al Amir for the most part is not a bad shisha. It’s just not a great shisha. The flavors are right on, but not significant. The smoke is good, but not great. So, overall, not a great smoke, but not too bad.

It is amazing how many different shishas there are out there. There are many that I have tasted, but many that I haven’t even heard of. Hypnosis is one of the latter. A friend of mine saw it in a small smoke shop and picked up a 50g of Double Apple for me recently.

As most of you know, Double Apple is one of my all time favorite flavors. I have tried Double Apple Starbuzz, Al Fakher, Hydro, Social Smoke, and with the exception of the Hydro, I have loved them all.

Hypnosis is a very, very juicy tobacco, which is always a red flag for me. If they are putting that much juice into it, there must be something wrong with the tobacco, or the tobacco is just a lower quality product. Interestingly, on the side of the box it says that this is a Starbuzz product. Now my assumption is that it is the seconds from the tobacco and they just drown it in glycerin and flavorings. And I think I am right.

The flavor of this shisha was really pretty good. It lasted about half as long as a normal flavor would, making a good draw for about thirty minutes. At that point the flavor became really watered down and bland. The smoke was really good, probably due to the excessive amount of juice and the fact that I like a hot smoke and I was using three coals at the time.

Overall, this wasn’t too bad of a flavor, but the staying power was weak. For the price though, about the same as you will pay for Fantasia, it wasn’t too bad. Definitely a step up from Jewels. So, if you want some decent flavor and don’t smoke for long sessions, this could be a good one for you.

Today I want to review for you a real interesting flavor that I recently picked up. This is the Fantasia Sweet Red Melon. I used my usual rig and three Japanese style natural coals.

First of all, melon is a really hard flavor to match. I have tried several melons over the years and very few have come close to an actual melon flavor. This one really surprised me because it does match the melon flavor, but there is an additional flavor in the background. Maybe not so much a flavor, but a definite sweet taste, hence the name.

The flavor is a nice pleasant sweet melon, simple as that. The cut is especially small and incredibly juicy with very few stems. The clouds were great, but a lot of that depends on the coals you use.

Overall, this was a pretty nice smooth flavor. It is not one I would run out and buy over and over, but it was a good, once in a while, flavor for me. Until next time, remember: Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha.

Well, another weekend behind me and more Fantasia flavors to review. I am really on this Fantasia kick lately. Mostly because I haven’t placed a shisha order recently and so I just buy what I can find locally. But I have to tell you, the flavors aren’t that bad, actually, some are quite good.

The Wild Mint comes somewhere just in the middle. The flavor is definitely a peppermint and is a good, fairly distinct flavor. The problem is that it is just not strong enough or memorable, once you have exhaled. There is no lingering “MMmmm” like you get with for instance, Al Fakher Mint. As a stand alone flavor, maybe this will hit the mark for the average once a week hookah smoker. For us once to twice a day types, it is just too weak to pull any real enjoyment out of the smoke.

If you are a casual hookah smoker, this may be a good one for you…give it a try. If you are a heavy hookah smoker, stick with the stronger blends of mint. This one just won’t do it for you. Until next time, remember: Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!
