Internet Pact Act 2010…Are You Kidding Me?!!!!
Good Afternoon Hookah Whisperers!
I just got off the phone with an excise officer for the state of Indiana. He told me that as of July 1, 2010, ALL sales and delivery of ALL tobacco products, except cigars, are illegal in the United States. This led me to read up on the act. Many of the articles I read said that it will now be illegal to ship tobacco through the USPS, while for years, some said, Fedex and UPS have refused to deliver tobacco products. Fedex and UPS have refused to deliver tobacco products? Are you kidding me? I have recieved more tobacco from Fedex than I have from florist at funerals! What is the purpose behind these crazy laws? It has to be money for somebody. This country’s government is so messed up it is unbelievable.
The point of this post is frustration and venting on my part, but I would like to hear what all of you know out there. Please help me to better understand this broken US government. All posts welcomed and encouraged.
Until next time, remember: Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!(and to put up with Bureaucratic morons!)

This law is discrimination against the Seneca Nation, and is akin to giving them blankets infested with smallpox! Trading tobacco comprises more than 60% of their income. The income earned from selling tobacco goes to support social & medical programs for the tribe.
Since they are a sovereign nation, I don’t understand how the US Gov’t can do this to them. Would love to know what I can do to have this law overturned.

It’s an Act to enforce tax collection of cigarette sales. The Gov’t simply figures people should walk out to their local store and pay up to $5 a pack in tax alone. Out ragious is that, in no way does the Govt want any one to stop smoking. This is a cash cow for States, such as New York who raises this tax rate often. Their claim of stopping smoking sends the message, that as long as people smoke, the tax rate will go up. It appears to be a penalty and fine imposed for smoking, which by the way, is much higher than the fine of smoking marijuiana in the same State.
