Hookah Smoking Lounges Targeted More And More! When Will We Stand And Fight!

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

I had to show you all this article from the Starnews Online from a few days ago.

Read the article and tell me what you think. It just cracks me up how these smoking activists seem to think that smoking tea or raw sugar cane is any better than smoking tobacco! I’ll give you that tobacco smoking is not good for us. There have been hundreds of studies done to prove this, and I believe it! We know it and we take the risk because we enjoy it. Show me one study that addresses the long term effects of smoking tea or sugar cane! They don’t exist! Because they don’t exist, that makes the smoking activists feel better about it?! What a bunch of morons! Read on and enjoy!

Hookah bar resolves smoking ban dispute

The Juggling Gypsy signed a consent agreement with the New Hanover County health department this week resolving the remaining smoking ban violations against the Castle Street hookah bar.

The agreement means the Juggling Gypsy will not have to pay two separate $200 fines that were pending against it.

The bar has paid one $200 administrative fine stemming from a Feb. 19 penalty. The owner paid after losing an appeal hearing over the fine earlier this month in front of New Hanover County’s health board.

At the hearing, the Juggling Gypsy’s owner and manager said the hookah bar has switched to allowing only hookah shisha made from tea leaves and herbal cigarettes to be smoked inside.

Those who want to use hookahs with tobacco products or regular cigarettes smoke outside, they said.

“Based on their representation to that effect and payment on that first citation, we agreed at this point we would not schedule hearings for the other two violations,” Kemp Burpeau, assistant county attorney, said Friday. “We did reserve the right to reinstate those violations if there was any further evidence of noncompliance.”

The law that went into effect Jan. 2 banned smoking tobacco products inside most bars and restaurants in the state.

Denny Best, the Juggling Gypsy’s manager, said he still planned to urge state legislators to revisit the ban and give hookah bars an exemption similar to the one that was granted to cigar bars that are allowed to smoke inside as long as they meet certain alcohol sales requirements.

“I’ve already talked to a lot of the local legislators, and they seem to be on our side,” Best said.

EBAY HOOKAH SALES-THE MAN TRYING TO KEEP ME DOWN!

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers.

As most of you know, I sell hookahs on Ebay as a side job to make a little extra cash. I have been doing this for quite some time with pretty fair success. This morning I am greeted with an email from Ebay saying that I am in violation of their Drug Paraphernalia ban policy, and that hookahs are not allowed to be sold on Ebay.

So, I searched the term Hookah on Ebay and as I expected, all 4326 of the hookahs that were listed there yesterday, were still listed today. Am I being singled out?

The hookahs that they pulled from me were 10 inch Chinese LED light hookahs. Now, I can understand if they pulled these on principle, that they just don’t measure up as a quality hookah. But drug paraphernalia? Smoking drugs from a hookah is like drinking a beer in a glass with holes in the bottom. The physics of the thing don’t make sense.

Now, I’m not naive either. I know people try to smoke pot out of hookahs. These are not the people we want reproducing in America. Do you realize what a waste that is, and the flavor you are sacrificing by not smoking Al Fakher Double Apple in the first place!

Anyway, while the man tries to hold me down, I will keep you updated on my fight to keep Hookahs on Ebay.

Until next time, remember: Life is to short to smoke cheap shisha!(Especially if you are banned from selling hookahs on Ebay without good cause.)

Hookahs-Authentic or Faux!

Good morning Hookah Whisperers. I was reading an e-zine article about the authenticity of hookahs that we buy and smoke here in the US. This author was truly upset, nay, dare I say indignant, about the authenticity and smokability(I think I made a new word) of an “authentic” Egyptian hookah, versus a Chinese “imposter”.
So what is “authentic” these days. I use a flash drive with my laptop that I paid ten bucks for at Walmart. It was made in China and it works very well. As a matter of fact, I would have to say that my experience with this flash drive has been excellent! I’ve had it for a couple of years and have never experienced a problem with it. And, if I did, I would go to Walmart and get a new one…it’s ten bucks.
All of the hookahs I own, I know for a fact, were made in China. I know this, because the people I purchased them from told me so. I am also clever enough to realize that because of the popularity of these items, inevitably, the Chinese can mass produce them cheaper than anywhere else, hence, most of them will be made in China. I’m also clever enough to look at the box and realize that although there is Arabic scrip on the side, the bottom still says, “Made in China”.
I have smoked authentic Egyptian hookahs at hookah bars and yes, they are a good smoke. But so is my 18 inch Chinese hookah. In my mind, you buy a hookah for the looks of the thing, not the mechanics. The way a hookah works is not in dispute. They are all MADE the same way. The quality of your smoke is in the preparation and the quality of the shisha you put in the thing. It also depends on the coals you use, and whether you use aluminum foil or a thicker screen. The truth is, once you get to know your own hookah, the better the smoke becomes. Anyone who has ever owned a hookah knows what I mean. You learn how to smoke YOUR hookah the way it likes to be smoked. They are all different.
So, don’t get all caught up in “authentic” or not, just get a hookah that you like and enjoy it. Find a shisha you enjoy, and enjoy it. Don’t be pressured into using an item just for the sake of its “authenticity”. But that’s my two cents…what do you think?

Have a great day, Hookah Whisperers, and remember…Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!

What do you think?

It is becoming very popular within the national media to bash Hookah smoking. Hookah lovers are in the same boat as cigar lovers were in the early 1990′s, when cigar smoking became a popular pasttime again. Take a look at this article and let me know where you stand. And remember. Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!
