Blueberry Festival 2010 Plymouth Indiana!

Good Evening Hookah Whisperers!

Today starts the most beloved annual tradition in Northern Indiana for many people…the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth, Indiana! This is a festival that draws nearly a million people to a town of 10,000 every year over Labor Day. If you know Northern Indiana, you know that that means there will be at least a half million teeth, entering the gates. Yes, the English language will receive a severe beating, but this is the Heartland, so we will look the other way.

The best part about this festival is that this is not the hotbed for Blueberry farms. In fact, I don’t know of any in town! It is just a great excuse to get together in a very crowded space and gorge ourselves on Smoked Turkey Legs, deep fried everything, and of course Funnel cakes. This is also the only chance I get yearly to use a Porta-John, and I wouldn’t miss that for the world!

So, in honor of this great event, I am inviting any of you in the area to come have a smoke with me. Just respond to this post with an email or send me a personal message on YouTube and I will give you directions to where we can meet. I hope that many of you will be available. Maybe we’ll even review some shisha!

So, if you live in the area, give me a shout and let’s have a Labor Day smoke.

Until next time, remember: Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!

Layalina Mangosteen Shisha…Mangowha?

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

Okay, I admit it: I am a corn fed Indiana country hayseed who hasn’t traveled outside of the US, barring Canada twice, which really shouldn’t count. But Mangosteen??? I found out what one was by a YouTuber that subscribes to the Hookah Whisperer channel, but prior to that I had no idea if this was a play on the word Mango and Bruce Springsteen. You know how shisha companies like to get clever with their shisha names…Starbuzz Blue Mist, Social Smoke Lemon Chill, Starbuzz Code 69, just to name a few. That is what I thought we were doing here.

Actually, according to Answers.com, a Mangosteen is a n.,

1. A Malaysian evergreen tree (Garcinia mangostana) having thick leathery leaves and large edible berries.
2. The berry of this tree, having a hard rind and five to seven seeds with a sweet juicy aril.

I’m not sure what a sweet juicy aril is, but after smoking this, I’m pretty sure I can live without one! I hope you enjoy the video.

FYI, I’m also on twitter…guess what name I use? Hookahwhsiperer! Aren’t I the clever one.

AL BASHA MEDITERRANEAN GRILL(AND HOOKAH LOUNGE…Shhhhhh)!

Greetings Fellow Hookah Whisperers!

Today, I have a real treat of a review for you. Just south of 116th Street and Allisonville Road in Fishers Indiana, back behind a auto service center and another strip mall, lies a tiny diamond in the rough. Al Basha is the name of this establishment.

To call it a Hookah lounge would be a tremendous understatement. The owner, Mario, also has a Mediterranean Grill and a grocery all conveniently in the same building. The Hookah lounge sits totally enclosed in an area that doesn’t allow the smoke to interfere with people who are dining in the grill.

They also have a full selection of Hookahs and Shisha, a broad selection of shisha I might add. As I was leaving I bought a 250g of Al Fakher Grape with mint because I couldn’t resist the display area!

I had a bowl of Al Fakher Lemon with Mint and it was served in an Egyptian rotator hookah. The flavor was strong and what I expected and the hookah smoked cool the entire sitting. I didn’t sample the food, but had the option to do so in the Hookah area. You just can’t smoke in the restaurant area. What I can tell you, is that the restaurant had a steady flow of customers for the hour I was there. Even the market was busy.

My total bill for a diet Pepsi and a hookah for an hour came to $12.95. This seemed like an exceptional deal to me! And Mario and his staff couldn’t have been nicer.

If you are in the Indianapolis area definitely go check out Al Basha, at 11321 Village Square in Fishers Indiana. Absolutely great!

If you like what you see here, remember to share it with friends using the share bar in this post.

THE EGYPTIAN HOOKAH LOUNGE-WEST LAFAYETTE INDIANA-PURDUE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

Good Morning Hookah Whisperers!

Last week I had the great opportunity to be in West Lafayette Indiana on the campus of Purdue University. While there, I had a wonderful lunch at the Egyptian Hookah Lounge and a great smoke as well. A quick thank you to Purdue students, Tabby, Jonathan, Sarah, and Matt for letting me get a shot of them enjoying the Egyptian for lunch.

The place has about the charm you would expect from a College town hookah lounge…not too fancy, but yet exotic enough to draw you in. The cheeseburger and fries I had were incredible, and huge. I ended up taking more than half of it in a box and having it for dinner.

The tobaccos they serve are a variety and they of course have Starbuzz. I had a mix of Starbuzz Orange and Mojito. It was a great smoke! The hookahs they use are pretty good quality. The look is almost too antique-ish to believe that they are actually old, but they are beautiful, and smoke very well.

Apparently they have quite a lineup for the evenings at the Egyptian as well. They have an open mic night I know, and I was told they have a DJ most other nights, so it seems like a great social gathering place.

So, to sum up; The price for a mixed bowl of Starbuzz shisha, a double cheeseburger and fries, and a large iced tea(for some great green tea Click Here!) came to around $21 with tip. I don’t think that is too bad.

So, the next time you are in Lafayette, stop in and have a smoke at the Egyptian. It really is a great atmosphere and value. I recommend it highly.

Until next time, remember; Life is too short to smoke cheap shisha!
